Gemini - Silence of the Fallen

Debut EP / AV live Premiere
At Aavistus Audiovisual Biennale 4.10.24

The performance explores where human consciousness, death and our co-evolving machine intelligence intersect. A haunting meditation on the edge of transcendence and the liminal spaces where technology and spirituality intertwine. Driven by a fascination with the afterlife, it explores a new dawn of mortality. At the rim of life and death, the piece examines the loss of meaning and the transformation of identity in the age of technological singularity. Reflecting the dualism in our physical existence; what it means to live and die in a time where technology not only extends life, but also redefines it. Serving as a requiem for the human body and a celebration of a new, beautiful approach to death - A redefinition of a confrontation with the specters that haunt our digital era.

Driven by a fascination with the afterlife, the performance explores a new dawn of mortality. At the intersection of life and death, where consciousness confronts its own demise, the piece examines the loss of meaning and the transformation of identity in the age of technological singularity and spiritual machines.

At its core, Gemini is a reflection on our ecological and spiritual entanglement with our physical existence. What it means to live and die in a time where technology not only extends life, but also redefines it. The performance serves as a requiem for the human body and a celebration of a new, beautiful approach to death - A redefinition of death and a confrontation with the specters that haunt our digital era. The performance explores the interplay between life and death, suffering and transcendence, nature and machine, through the lens of mythology, Gnosticism and the age of AI.

Aesthetics and Atmosphere

  • Dark, mystical, and futuristic: the visual and atmospheric tone is a blend of the eerie, sublime, mystical, high-tech. Funeral fashion combined with the aesthetics of transhumanism — where mythical demons meet cybernetic avatars.

  • Aesthetics: Blurred, asymmetrical, with varied textures like mist, chrome, and organic materials. The color palette is dominated by dark, earthy tones with cold, shimmering accents. Dark, demonic, nihilistic, but with a strangely beautiful aesthetic that mixes organic and synthetic textures.

  • Color Palette: A mix of deep blacks, shimmering metallics, and earthy tones, with occasional bursts of cold, ethereal light

  • Live Presentation: Dancers on stage with their movements projected and augmented on a large screen. AR costumes and effects that react to the music & motion, transforming the dancers into digital avatars. A focus on the interplay between the real and the virtual.

Key Elements / Themes / Concepts

  • Death and rebirth, spiritual death, transhumanism, mythology, the intersection of technology and spirituality.

  • Dualism at the point of interconnection: the intersections of opposites — where spiritual / mechanical, human / machine, ancient / futuristic technology collide and coalesce.

  • Reflecting on suffering as the sole origin of consciousness; what it means to be alive in a world where mortality and humanity are redefined. Does singularity occur when AI begins to experience suffering?

  • Bandpass filtering of consciousness: a metaphor for how human awareness and identity are shaped by selective perceptions, both natural and technologically induced — how we filter and experience reality and embodiment in overwhelming information and artificial stimuli.

  • Technology as both savior and destroyer: the dual potential of AI and technological advancement as both a means of spiritual enlightenment and a source of existential dread. Paradoxical relationship humans have with technology — as both a tool for liberation and a harbinger of doom. Mostly viewing digital identity and the technological extension of the body as an opportunity for liberation.

  • Mythology and modern mythmaking: incorporating elements from ancient folklore, such as demons, spirits, and occult practices, and combining them with modern technological myths — creating a new narrative for the digital age that echoes ancient elements.

Grim and gloomy, sci-fi driven AV-artist and phygital designer. Specialized in fashion, XR- and 3D design. Musically drawn to dark tunes of moombahton, footwork and techno. Deeply fascinated in the views of post-humanism and techno-utopianism in the midst of inevitable dystopia; channeling art as a reflection of futuristic mystique and cyber witchcraft.
